Katherine Chong

Associate Counsel

Katherine Chong is a dedicated lawyer at Up Legal Group with a rich background in human rights, environmental advocacy, and civil litigation. Her legal career spans diverse roles and regions, from British Columbia to Myanmar, Cambodia, and Taiwan, where she has advocated for vulnerable communities and worked on high-stakes cases involving personal injury, insurance defense, and social justice issues. Called to the British Columbia Bar in 2005, Katherine combines her broad international experience with a deep commitment to serving her clients effectively.

Katherine holds a Bachelor of Laws from Queen’s University and a Master of Laws in Human Rights, Conflict, and Justice from SOAS University of London. Her work has taken her to various international organizations, including EarthRights International and the United Nations, where she has addressed complex environmental and human rights issues. Notably, her role with EarthRights involved coordinating the Climate Justice Campaign in Myanmar, advocating for community voices in energy and climate policy.

A strong advocate for environmental and social causes, Katherine has also held pivotal roles in advocacy organizations, including her work with Wild at Heart Legal Defense Association in Taiwan, where she contributed to the preservation of endangered species and environmental protection.

Katherine’s dedication to justice extends beyond the courtroom, as she actively contributes to legal initiatives and mentors aspiring lawyers. Outside of work, she enjoys exploring cultural experiences and staying connected with global issues. Her multifaceted background and commitment to ethical advocacy make her a valued member of the Up Legal Group team.
